Our Legacy

A VISION FOR THEIR COMMUNITY

A Legacy of Commitment to our Community

Over 20 years ago, four Columbus nonprofits with a vision for affordable neighborhoods partnered as co-developers to create affordable housing in Northeast Columbus.

These four organizations, Dayspring Christian Community Development Corporation, My Brother’s Keeper (affiliated with Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church), New Salem Real Estate Holdings (affiliated with New Salem Baptist Church), together created Corban Commons for seniors and created its sister community Providence Glen for families. With the support of Community Building Partners as advisors both of these communities were built and continue to operate today serving as high-quality, affordable homes for hundreds of Columbus families.

Since its opening, Corban Commons has been home to an active senior community. The property features a community space, which has hosted Columbus State ESL programs, COTA and Mid-Ohio Regional Food Bankevents, and more. Many Corban Commons residents have lived in the community for years, truly making it their home.

The partners have stewarded the project as it has aged and are now embarking on a second phase for the community to reinvest, and rededicate the units as affordable for decades to come.
